Murrah buffalo is a water buffalo breed mostly demanded by dairy farmers for dairy production. This breed of buffalo has Indian origin and distributed to countries, like Philippines, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, to name a few. Mostly overall black in color and having short & tightly curved horns, Murrah buffalo has most its population in Haryana and Punjab states of India. The female buffalo weighs around 550 kg and female buffalo weighs 450 kg. In some countries, this buffalo is used for meat production.
